A Hidden RevelationA Poem by Mister_MysteryI wrote this poem after discovering my dad had cancer. It not only expresses my grief but the reality awaiting us all, regardless if we ponder the subject...the grave!!Fresh skin wrapped firmly round clusters of bone, Blue, yellow, brown, and green ornament the sight, Deafening the soul to mortality’s shrill, Till eyes see it gushing up to kill. The serpent Time moves stealthily unseen, Piercing our carapace with gnarled sharp fangs; Gradually we swell, decay, achingly die, Despite the pleading from a loved one’s cry. One day the earth will gobble your vessel, Worms gnawing the warm features I once treasured, Valuable memories growing hazy, My will to live, old and getting lazy. But I’m destined to never tread alone, For a peaceful voice abides in my spirit, Shedding light on our surnames ill-gotten lot, Offering me peace in my family plot. © 2013 Mister_MysteryAuthor's Note
