True love exists in moments stumbled upon by accident in hospitals, in airports, and underneath the stars gone before you realize it was there missed before you knew you had it. – Atticus
This reads like a movie scene, Cyprian.....the ending to a romantic comedy perhaps; grabbing the kiss before the slap hits first. You described the scene well and I enjoyed the biblical reference to Moses there; if only we had his skill to part the traffic on occasion! It's a very romantic poem and well written. I enjoyed it much.
you've set quite a scene. this has an old fashioned movie feel - kissing outside in the city (in the rain) and not being slapped for it being inappropriate. made me think of the old movie 'singing in the rain'. weather is irrelevant when you're in love. good flow and interesting ending. held my attention from start to finish ... :)
Hello, Cyprian! :)
You've written a vivid scene here, panning from the night sky, down to the wet streets; and gave it feeling with the last line. I think its great. My only CC is that the line "Not just my eyes but even my lips" slows the progression more than it adds. Thanks for sharing.
I returned Cyprian to read this poem a second time. Well worth the revisit. I like everything about it, the tone, the rain, the layout, the imagery and the kiss. How good to be kissed and not slapped for it :) Not surprised at the number of reviews you have for this, They are well deserved. It's a cracking poem.
I find it worthwhile because it has an innocence .. its romantic .. reminds me of this wonderful song by Neil Sekaka https://youtu.be/MtIibcNDQ6o .. and it also brings a flash back memory of when I took a young hippie woman for a ride on my motorcycle to a great state park to watch the sun go down. I was very enamored by her and would have loved to have kissed her but we weren't at that point by a long shot .. as we were talking ... and, mind you, I did nothing at all .. we were just talking .. she out of nowhere .. layed a fine hearty slap across my left cheek ... my instant reaction to hit back in defense was held in check by my shock .. and of course ...she was a woman. ;) She never explained it she just, seeing the shock on my face ..kept repeating .. No No No ... you don't understand! ... well she was right about that .. and I still don't. She never got on the bike again .. and I avoided running into her unless there were other people around. Just a bit too strange for me. Funny thing was....years later .. my marriage, four children and my wife's passing later ... she somehow found my phone number and called to apologize for offenses I never saw nor held against her .. she had become a follower of Jesus Christ and felt the need to make things right by me.... I suppose that slap had deep seated meanings in some way ... of course I thanked her but said I was never offended ... just dizzy over her. :)))))))))))))))))

ps. I like the setting on a NYC street in the rain .. can see the slick black pavement and horns and high beams ..
yes we all wait for that Unanticipated Kiss hopefully without a slap, lol. love how this comes together, very worthwhile to read, thank you for sharing.
I enjoyed the amount of detail you used to describe where you were, (i.e. the city, kind of night); but what did it for me is how open you were about your feelings.
Very nice.
If you're not into reading but love movies, here's why you should give my poems a read:
I've been told many times that my writing is cinematic. I love movies and video games and I really aspire t.. more..
