Second Place

Second Place

A Poem by Pale Rose

Even if I ran far,
I would still be
second place.
A trophy in the box
not brilliant enough
to display.

Even if I tried hard,
I’d still be
second best.
Better makeup and
more money yet
not enough.

Even if I was the one
who learned the Look too young
I’d still be.
Even if I was the one
staring into his eyes
I’d still be.

Even if I run far,
it will never be
far enough.

Sat down to write a completely different poem than this and this is what comes out. Who else has felt this?

"Even if I was the one

Those lines in particular give a powerful amount of information with few words. Anyone who has ever been where you're talking about would likely recognize them in an instant.

I'm glad that's understandable :) And yet it's a bit sad if someone does... Thanks for the review!!
