the weed to the tree

the weed to the tree

A Poem by Pale Rose

the weed to the tree
said, “I look up to thee
your branches I would like to be
feel the same wind through me
harbor the same things as thee”

such a kind tree, shields
the weed from the fields,
from the wind that never yields

the weed, unable to serve
more than to observe
helps the tree to conserve

the weed to the tree
saying, “stay free
my beloved tree
I shall keep for thee
all rot, despised lot”

the tree to the weed
sent down a seed
which began to feed
and eat the weed--
“ow, with you I plead
to spare me from this seed
that with it’s greed
shall soon mislead
and take the things you need”
said the weed

the silence filled the weed’s empty heart
and soon it was torn apart.
