Lover Needle

Lover Needle

A Poem by Pale Rose

Oh needle, you’ve run me through

Stringing me along like some trinket--

Are there others? Will we adorn your neck

Like some tribal king? Or,

Shall we hang about your wrist for show?

Nevermind! I don’t care about the others--

All that matters is you have me

You have all of me, and I have none of you.

If I could have you, would we be in love?

Would I have your child, and

Would we be buried together?

Never! For though I try to suck you in,

You never make it past my throat, for

I gag on your sharp point

All I’d end up with is just a taste

Just a bite of your throbbing muscle, to

Stain my hungry lips with cherry red

But it wouldn’t fill this hollow, and

You’d still have all of me.

Just give me a tug sometime, needle,

You’re already deep inside.
