Mask

Mask

A Poem by Ali chahine
"

I was many people, took me a while to realize I was my favorite one

"
I looked at the mirror
I didn't like myself
So I manipulated this self
That has brought me no good

I put on a mask
For every situation
I changed my colors
For every canvas

I became
What I thought
I needed
to be

Yet

My soul was aching
She was caged In the body
Of this actor
Who wouldn't read her lines

Words that could be echoed by multitudes! People can be more critical of selves than of others. Perhaps its a need to display confidence, discover what is thouht to be missing or lesser than wanted.

'I put on a mask
For every situation
I changed my colors
For every canvas'

Makes sense until you realise that not everyone in this world wants what is thought to be appreciated by others. To be wotsit: find those that accept both delights and flaws in those 'others' as they do of selves!?
