Hill of beans...

Hill of beans...

A Poem by Chantal-lise Mirman
"

when writer's block rears its ugly head

"

Percolating

through my brains

                 are words,

                 a heady brew.

Señor Valdez,

do not play games!

Though I’d prefer

 the chipped ceramic cup,

 I promise not to sue

your rather redundant donkey,

making his way over the rolled rim

                                 of my cardboard cup,

                                 no matter how steaming hot...

Out of my own mind,

perhaps the right grind

                 will filter out irrelevant material.

Properly caffeinated,

torn paper and pen in hand,

I rest my elbows on the worn counter-top,

                                waiting for the proper inspiration...

Welcome back! I for one have missed your intelligence, verve, and vigorous creative spirit. You poems inspire, amaze and entertaine me. Your range in terms of subject, style, humanity, and wit always impresses me.

You are among my favourite poets here, one of the very best.

I smiled when I read, 'Senor Valdez, do not play games'. And I cld see said donkey. And I like your little touches '...rather redundant donkey...' It is the word '...rather...' There is just something about the way you deploy it that pleases. Judging from this first go, I wld say...Chantal-lise Mirman is back in the land of poets! I am delighted that you are and wish you a full return of your powers poetic, and personal. Ron.
