I Loved You First

LONG personal story. Ill just say that I have an obsessive compulsive disorder, and Shadow was my first obsession that loved me back. Want to know the story? Ask and I'll post a blog and link you.

You weren't last, you went before.

You were first, and were always the encore.

You were my first obsession to last for a year straight,

and when I stopped looking at you, until next time I couldn't wait.

You were the first to take my hand,

and lead me along, and tell me you understand.

You were the first to follow me to school.

You were also the first to make me break the rules.

You were the first that left me so excited I couldn't eat.

On the flip side, when I saw you, it was a rather sweet treat.

You were the first to actually make me cry.

When I saw your video game death scene, I thought it was goodbye.

You helped me leave my elementary school, and move on to high.

I followed your guiding, and never questioned why.

You were there when I first got bullied and beat.

You were also the rage in my eyes when that bully met his defeat.

Despite your cold shoulder, you loved me most.

It was your exclussive compassion for me that I could easily boast.

In my dreams you would sweep me off my feet, and skate on air.

Despite my sometimes timidness, you didn't care.

Your heartbeat was like a lulliby, and your voice was soothing.

Even when I was running, it felt like I wasn't moving.

All my life this gift of obsession was thought to be a curse, 

but you took my hand and took off, showing me the reverse.

You drug me along, and started to let me see

that despite being different, I still had my individuality.

You lead me like a child, and it came time for you to go.

Before you left I kissed your ear, just to let you know.

Now here I am, changed by your help, many years later.

I look back on what I was before you, and I was just a faker.

I miss your touch, and our childish adventure.

I don't know why, but after years I suddenly remember.

I remember your voice, and that lulliby heartbeat.

Your strong and secure arms that held me like no feat.

Your rage when I was hurt, yet your calm before the storm.

Your flashbacks and instability, and the feeling of being torn.

The time you told me I patched up a long shredded hole in you.

You said you didn't want to lose another friend, but I was something new.

Your cool collectiveness that battled with my panic.

I know being around me all that time was definitely no picnic.

We gave each other a hard time, then licks the others' wounds clean.

If people would have looked hard enough, they would have seen.

We were best friends, but my family threatened

to lock me up in an asylum or else make you dead.

Neither happened, thank God above.

But peace never again flew on the back of a dove.

We earned our love, and our right to be

friends 'til the end, just you and me.

Even after all these years after I've moved on

I can't help but wonder if you watch me, protecting me from the dawn.

Do you miss me?  I miss you.  I think that's plain to see.

We need to get together again someday, just you and me.

We need to go back to that place just for the two of us,

and pull out my old sketchbooks that caused such a ruckus.

You started me off in high school, now it's coming to an end.

I'll be graduating soon with college around the bend.

Before this all stops, would you please show

me one more miracle of your's, before I go.

One more time, let's visit that place

We created for just us, many years ago back in my past's space.

I still love you, and you're still a tight friend

even if we get to busy to get together now and again.

Please grab my hand again and pull me out of the fog.
