To a Young Poet

To a Young Poet

A Poem by Charles

please, heed not
simply because
this despot
teaches flow and pause
to heads filled with straws

poetry
of society
bends to none

so, find your heart
find what you aught
and rebel, young one
and listen not

break the syntax
screw the grammar

you are not conventional, why
should be
your words

absolutely perfect advice....hell, emily dickinson violated form all the time...and she was pretty damn good.

I really love the message you portray in this piece. To go against the grain and try not to write to please, but instead write because you love to do it, and you WANT to. To hell with the regular, or the "rules"! Forge your own path, and be YOU! Thoroughly enjoyed reading this one. =]
