I Call It Christianity

I Call It Christianity

A Poem by Tina Odisho

I Call It Christianity

When I am down you bring me higher.

When no one believes me you trust that I’m not a liar.

When I see two footsteps on my long life journey,

I know that you’re there carrying me.

When I defend you and I am put down as low as can be,

I know I did good so I keep defending you just like you defended me.

When I saw you by my side when I was alone.

I knew that you would be by me forever so that I would never be on my own.

When I saw you heal me from my grief.

I knew that in you I will always have belief.

When you gave your life for me,

I knew you were the kind of person I wanted to be.

When I saw you die on a cross for humanity,

I knew I would do the same for you with vanity.

Some people might call it insanity,

But I for one of many call it Christianity.

Wow. Very huge words! Strong statement at the end. Your rhyming is unmistakably catchy and you say a lot in such a short poem. I like that very much. Keep it up!
