The Red RoseA Poem by Tina Odisho
The Red Rose
As it is set to rest on a container so sad, A young kid lies frozen in a life you wish you never had. He wishes he could see it; just touch it one last time, Before he left he said he was sorry for committing his crime. He didn’t mean to talk back to his dad, He never knew he would get so mad. He should have known better; he was abused everyday, Yet what made me wonder is why he never ran away. His lasts words were daddy I love you , Yet daddy still shot him and said I wished I’d love you to. He watched his son wounded and take all the pain, Then he threw the kid out in the rain. He told him to go burn in hell, The kid said daddy I will if it will make you well. As the kid laid in the water he saw a red rose. He told his dad to put it in his container before it shall close. I will remember you daddy for all eternity, Now he’s in heaven hearing the angel’s sweet melody.
