Stranded: Chapter 1

Stranded: Chapter 1

A Chapter by Erin

“Beep,Beep,Beep,Beep-” Lauren slammed the alarm clock and rolled out of bed. Today was going to be the day that she would be flying to Germany. Alone. Well, she would be going with her 8 year old twin brothers, but that did little to comfort her. Lauren’s parents had divorced about a year ago, and her dad’s business had made him move to Germany. So, that was why Lauren’s summer would begin on a long, horrible plane trip with her annoying brothers. All because her dad had to live across the world. She felt a sting of regret for what she had thought. It wasn’t his fault. Just be thankful you get to see him, she reminded herself. Just then, her mom called her. “Lauren, we have to get to the airport in a half hour! Hurry up!” She hurriedly pulled on some clothes, and raced down the stairs. Her brothers were already down there, fighting over who would get to take what. Her mom was holding out her suitcase.

“Let’s go.”

“Wait, I gotta eat breakfast.”

“Lauren, if you wanna make the flight, we gotta leave now.” Lauren grumbled and trudged out the door. This was getting to be too much of a pain. Last night’s packing had been, well, a nightmare. She hopped in the front seat, and her brothers got in the back, arguing about what movie they would watch on the way to the airport.

“Boys, it’s a short drive. Let’s just listen to the radio.” There was a chorus of disappointed “Okay”s from the back seat. Then one of the twins, the oldest, pulled his way up to the front. “Well, then I get to choose the station.” That was Dylan. He was the fight starter.  “No! That’s not fair!” screamed the other. That was Ryan. Of the two, he was more peaceful and mature, but not by much. Almost immediately, there was a massive fight in the back. “Alright!” their mother yelled over the argument. “No radio either!” Lauren closed her eyes and waited for this dreadful ride to be over.
