The Words of AgeA Poem by MazieThe Words of Age, I heard but never knew; Their whispers, words, all tangled in a knot, And mingled with the voice of Youth’s false truths, Distorting truth and Wisdom’s lenient lot. The Words of Age, I heard and now do see Were not the words of aged, downward strife, But were in fact the coaching of Life’s Cree, To teach perfection’s not a way of life. The Words of Age forgive when wrong is done, For none can say they have no fault to shame; Nor can they claim their slate’s the purest one, We strive for best, and grieve the faults we hide, But wisdom comes from lessons learned inside. © 2015 MazieAuthor's Note
