If Death Were But a Sleep AwayA Poem by Mazie
If death were but a sleep away, what then?
A word inscribed in stone, a face long-gone; A name forgot along in time by friends, Is that what would remain, or life in song? Once whole, now dust, do they then gain their love? Would words tell tales of love, friendship and life? The world will move along, and they above Will move, while those below remain in night. Though strength, a virtue, came in times of need, Now that I face the day I hoped not know, That strength emits in waves which may deceive As now I face Fate's path - I walk alone. And all I pray is that they shall recall The times we shared; please, don't forget us all...
