To A Friend

To A Friend

A Poem by Mazie

Like gently falling crystal flakes of snow
Upon a glowing winter’s day; I smile.
An endless rain o warmth in bitter blows
Of icy storms that thrash at me the while;
What beauty in the light of dark, they shine -
Illuminate and highlight all that lies
Beneath the night’s cold winter gloom and mine:
A black night sky in setting and in rise.
Amazing how perspective might be swayed,
By speechless words of love, I cannot say,
And that, a treasure I would never trade;
A true and loyal friend I can’t repay.
For long I wandered through the dark, cold night,
‘Til Fate brought me your warm and gentle light.
