One Day, Each DayA Poem by MazieThis sonnet is about seizing the day and enjoying life while we have it. I wrote this just before I went into surgery.
One day to live a life; one day is all,
One day to ponder things from that, my past, The shadows of my memories now befall Forsaken thoughts I banished to the last. Now time runs short, as now I face my fears; The life I knew is taken by the turn, And I await; the dismal hour’s near, To lose my life, no guaranteed return. And still I think, that life was incomplete; Too soon it struck, this cannot be the end… For I have much to do and much to see, And more to love, old ties to mend… But life is not a certain state to hold; So live it now, you may not reach the old… © 2014 Mazie |
