You Do Not Know MeA Poem by MazieThis poem is explaining that love is not meant to be superficial, but rather, it should encompass the person and who they are in their entirety, not just their looks.
I know you don’t know who I am, you see;
How could you know, if all you know is sight. Beneath the skin you had no way to see, And all that lay beneath; the truth at light. To say the words is not to know the ‘why’, The over use of honey in a cone, A cliché in a tale outworn and dry; The story of a tale of hearts turned stone. You did not know me then, and know less now; A bird that flew before he knew to fly, You saw me there and knew without a ‘how’? And took a crack without a look inside; So tell me not you love me, lest you know; There is no love in skin but in the soul. © 2014 Mazie |
