Twinkle Moon, Shine Stars

Twinkle Moon, Shine Stars

A Poem by Kim Ross
"

Finding who I am, and the journey

"

Where do the lizards go when the trees are cut down? The snails climb to higher ground. The earth silences itself. The flowers reach towards heavens way. Where have you been stars, I’ve been looking for you moon. I have been all alone in this darkened gloom. Come out and visit me. Will you shine your light on my melted body no more? Call to me ocean, whisp me into your deep dark beyond. I am sinking into silence; it covers me like caramel, sticking to me, plunging into my nostrils. I can’t breathe, I am suffocating. Reach for me moon. I see the lining of your light, please don’t forsake me. Send me your animal’s mother of this earth. I feel the life seeping out of me. But I thank you stars, for twinkling and I thank you moon for shining. I arise out of the darkness; the river releases me, as her soldiers drip off of me. I am free, I am me, and I am free.
