My Destiny

My Destiny

A Poem by Andrew Cureton

I've got the worries of the big bad world resting on my heart
Just the thought of carving my future right is, tearing my mind apart

To the point where I'm
merely existing
barely breathing
seething with rage

As I look at my life like a book ...
And I realise as I turn each page
In disgust and rage

I need to make a start
make my mark
burnout the dark
Fill these pages with my own legacy
for the world to see and remember me

I'm the soldier on the battlefield
No guns, no bullets
just a grenade and a soul to wield
to make my demons yield

I steel my nerves to destroy this fear I have
I got to let it go
I charge over the front line
I pull the pin,
and throw...
and let it
BLOW!!!
