Burnt in fire

Burnt in fire

A Poem by Kyle Jordan Eller

walking across the fiery plane
See the past set ablaze
what lies behind is dead
The days will roll on, so shall I
Can’t be swayed into past temptation

heat swelling beneath my feet
ashes laying thick on the ground
coals lick my toes, embers caress my heels
what’s to proceed and quench my thirst
flames continue to lap my face

visions of a better place
only light is the fire burning
continuing to a place over there
wandering towards heaven
aimlessly wasting away

Trapped where hell becomes private
torture is not knowing why
If night ever comes, be lulled to sleep
A reprieve from badgering questions
beckoning night to soothe my charred soul
