Beginning to lose your memory is very difficult for anyone to bear; It seems that in this poem, the elderly in the family may have wandered out on her own and was returning home... and wanted to bake a rhubarb pie... to her dismay, she forgot to take it out of the oven on time...it seems that she takes some kind of tablets that may help her memory.... we all hope this doesn't happen to us, but we have no control...
Nice write about an important issue.

I realised that we (Mt son & me) had taken over running the home
My wife had no interest in any of her crafts or household tasks
She in effect she had left us (in mind)
Now she is almost back to her normal self, albeit with limitations _ her short-term memory is still absent
Yes the stress of lockdown could bring this on prematurely maybe it was her way of coping
I hope she improves with you and your families love ❤️ and support

A lovely poem shared my dear friend. The little things we did will be missed. I liked the many things you described in the poem. I like the need for the pie and thank you for sharing the amazing poetry.

Baking pie or painting it,, this is a lovely beautiful poem. I think many needed calming chill pills in lowdown lockdown i guess. Kudos for a superb muse.!
Plz check out my two newest poems and also comment on one you prefer . Thanks,

the tablets are life savers...she can start to remember again the life she was forgetting...
I went through it with both parents...the short term memory shot...
each story a repeat, but I listened as if it were the first time, each time.
there is hope in this poem...and the spirit lifts.

Whether it's memory loss or depression, it is devastating to see a close relative struggling. It must be a joy if this is short-term and for them to begin to come out of that darkness and to remember some of the activities they once enjoyed. Slowly does it. Nicely conveyed Wild Rose and that pie sounds delicious. Have a good week- end.

I could cook so just set about looking after things
An add on tv 'What's for diner'
I sent for the doctor
She asked one day "Who are you"
"I am your husband"
"Oh are you Pete. are we married?
kind of bitter sweet ... i do hope for you Wild Rose, that it is not confessional .. my Ma suffered through Alzheimer's .. i felt blessed being able to take care of her in our home for most of it .. medicine and therapies abound and become more and more effective .. perhaps one day all the dementias will be a thing of the past .. those moments of clarity sparkle like gems in my thoughts of her .. your closing tends to make me believe that what ever the cause ... she is on the mend with a positive prognosis .. i do hope this is the case .. tough stuff Wild. :(

We are getting her into the garden with her 3 wheel walking frame to plant flowers > slowly I think we will get her better

Hmm I read this and the first thing I thought of was of memory loss. This seems like she is suffering from maybe short term memory, and they are trying to revive her memory by doing so,etching that she probably loved doing before, such as baking a pie. It seems as if she gets better each day with the help of her pills, her memory is coming back. I haven't taken a look at "Where have you gone" which you said was the sequel to that poem. Maybe I'll have a look, this was an interesting poem, it makes me think that even in the most hopeless situations there will still be hope and one must wish for the best. Interesting poem indeed!
