The SnowdropsA Poem by Wild RoseThe Snowdrops The Snowdrops poke up their green shoots From under the barren ground A sign that new life is on its way Slowly the bud tip Grows and expands
Under the questionable Protection of the trailing boughs of the Weeping Japanese Maple tree Trailing; naked Void of leaves or buds They give little protection From the bleak winter weather
Their white bed cap heads Bend down To protect the delicate stamens From rain and snow Through the winds and gales They stand For their short lives
They will return next year The groups Expanded by seed Year on year
