A sleepless night

08 March 2022

11:39

It has been a hot day

The bedroom curtains are closed, but the windows are slightly open, to allow a cool breath of air, to circulate.

Covered by a single cotton sheet.

My head on the cool cotton pillow.

Sleep wont come

Images and thoughts enter my head

Round and round they go

Jumbling and unjumbling

Like they are in a washing machine

I have enough to fill two books, or, more

In the morning I must write them all down

Sleep comes with the dawn

I wake

Now to record the jumbled dreams

Too late

They all melted with the morning light.

I know just how you feel here and in some ways it is good to remember the treacle like heat. Not so all the missed opportunities for poems.

yes, well this happens doesn't it - I have such VIVID dreams and crazy creams ...I like the simplicity of your words and the tumble down of forgetfulness when we all try and remember what happened to us the night before.

I can understand this story! I have so many thoughts, and it's like they melt away and I can't remember them! Well done!

I think that we all get nights like that

Enjoyed it a lot!
I never can remember my dreams. Very relatable with a hut, muggy night and to much running through your mind to get to sleep

so true, I myself have vivid dreams after a tortuous few hours of turning and tossing; some of us get our best sleep in the early morning, befroe the sun creeps up. But then, as I begin to remember those once realistic dreams, they are just a pile of nothing. I like the way you describe your sleep pattern and how you will write all this down on paper in the morn, then blank! "they all melted with the morning light".
Well done.
Best, B
