I am going to make some sausage rolls she said

Flour, margarine, lard, for the pastry.

Prepare the dry mixture tonight then just make the dough tomorrow

Flour weighed, add the fats

 

With flour and fats in the bowl

She slipped;

Knocked; the bowl off the scales

Flour and fats spread

 

Across the work surface

On the floor

Oh! What a mess

Leave if a minute

 

Bring another bowl

Spoon up the fats

Leaving as much flour as possible

Into the clean bowl

 

Another clean bowl

A serving ladle

Scoop up the piles of flour

Into the bowl

 

Stiff brush and dust pan

Brush up as much as possible

Into the waste bin

Vacuum the rest

 

Oh What a mess

It was

Begin again

Flour and fats into the bowl

I recently tiled our kitchen floor, so scraping it off there is fairly easy

We used to have a dog. Then anything on the floor it was all gobbled up in seconds and the floor licked "Clean"

ahahaha what one will do for sausage rolls .. i have me Ma's frugality .. your "she" reminds me of it. ;) enjoyed all the sounds, colors, aromas inspired by such a simple moment in time ..

Homemade sausage rolls in a shortcrust pastry, we can't stand that flaky stuff shop ones come in - It flakes all over AND it is more greasy
warm sausage rolls straight from the oven and a warm coffee to relax after baking - mmmm

I do the lifting of trays in and out of the oven - don't want the end product to fall on the floor & She is too shaky for handling hot trays of food
