I am so sorry to hear this. I reviewed your more recent, " She is Returning" poem before this one, and in that poem you said it was the sequel to this poem. I am glad that she is coming around and her memory is coming back to her, in the other poem. At first I thought the poem was a metaphor for how covid seemed to have been going away for a while but not anymore, I did not realize that you were talking about a real person until I read it again, with conjunction with your more recent poem. It must have been difficult to care for her, especially when she hid her tablets. Its unfortunate, when memory loss occurs, we forget everything, and taking care of ourselves becomes a task on its own. She must have been a very talented person, had a lot of hobbies and loved to bake. Its heartbreaking when you once saw a person who had joy in her eyes, no longer. She was lucky to have you to look after her through the pandemic and I'm glad things are getting better., and hopefully her memory recovers more.

We were locked down with this virus #I had been told not to go out by the docs (problem with my immunity system) The nus=rse said "check your will"y
Then one day I noticed her eyes > dull as if she wasn't with us
Any wat now she 'knows' that she forgets things > and takes the tablets without being reminded
She is having mood swings now > Just waiting to have another blood test
This is quite sad. But i love the style you have used to make this poem. It fits very well and it's kinda like a dialogue . We all have our ups and downs but sometimes the downs win over us tho we shouldn't let them win forever.

dang .. such a poignant closing says i! as caregivers to those we love and hold dearly it is not easy .. watching someone drift away from reality can be excruciating .. finding respite so important for the care givers ... me Ma had Alzheimer's and lived with my children and i until the last months of her life .. keeping her active and engaged as much as possible slowed her mental losses considerably .. her course ran 10 yrs ;) Wild Rose, i can't say enough about my gratitude for being able to keep her at home with us ... not everyone are able to do it ... and not everyone should .. you be well my friend .. don't forget to care for yourselves too!

We haven't been in except for the blood tests
All done over the telephone
So hard to lose the people we loved. We must return the kindness, they gave us. Your poem wrote of a powerful and loved person slowly fading away. Thank you dear friend for sharing your amazing words and your thoughts.

I read this yesterday and again today. Who among us could not be touched by your love and concern for your mother? Some have said they want to go out in a blaze of glory, but only fate/the creator's mighty hand decides that. I feel your pain, having experienced it myself. I saw my father in that chair, and it broke my heart. I send you and your family my best wishes.

We realised she was forgetting things
I had a word with the doctor who gave a blood test and Magnesium tabs
After the last test he put her onmax dose > He wanted her to pick if quicker
Well now she is taking back the jobs we had been doing > Her eyes say she is back; but she still asks 'whats for tea; but she is on the mend slowly
I had heard that if you got in soon enough they could do something to stem the rate at which they failed
It is all this virus stuff and being fastened in > We had a weeks camping planned - then there war an outbreak in the area; we were planning to stay on site; but thought it safer to cancel the trip. we had a few afternoons sitting in the camper for coffee and listen to the radio > 'staycation'

The covid is certainly changing lives and activities. My 29 year-old son who still lives with us was exposed at at work (A lab) and is now awaiting results to see if he caught it. We're all under the same roof, so we keep out distance from one another and wear masks. Hopefully, a vaccine will soon be here.
went through this...it's tea time all the time.
they took care of us when we were helpless...time to return the favor...but it must be done out of love.
poignant write, Wild Rose,

As you sound to understand > Today we planned a walk > Now she wont get ready to go out
I want her to go out - but it becomes a fight (almost) - I just shrug my shoulders and wait for her mood to change - putting her in a home would be the end
Has the sound of one with dementia. The speaker is someone close to her who remembers her better days. Now she is able to do little or understand little. The speaker doesn't want to see her to a nursing home--can't blame her for that---and has decided to try to keep her at home. One can only wish both of them the best of good fortune.
