The government has clamped down on peoples movements because of the virus.

 

People are panic buying

Yes I understand they want to make sure they dont run out of essential items

What are the buying

Toilet rolls and kitchen rolls

 

What about food?

No

 

Why toilet rolls?

When we were little we cut up old newspapers into toilet roll sized sheets and

fastened them close by on a nail or string

I never really understood why toilet paper, when food is also an essential. But I did see people walking out of supermarkets with 50 rolls of toilet paper; I call that HOARDING. And once someone doe it, it becomes like a fad, and the shelves are empty; I guess that's just human nature! Nice write!

Just returned from a shopping trip - All shelves full - the only empty ones were Kitchen & toilet rolls and flour (3 flour per customer)

It is a different world today .. people en mass will often follow what the next of his kind is seen to do .. common sense and logic are lost when panic sets in regardless .......... stock up on pasta, salt and alphabeti spaghetti .................................................................... :)

No empty shelves - even the bread w=shelves were full > Oh and my choc biscuits > but we had a bake home made buns > Buy another bag of flour

We had this toilet paper rush in Australia too.We got nothing left and used kitchen rolls ugh.Poo can be scary.

We usesed, yesterday's newspaper - cut to size hung on a string behind the loo door > yes the loo had a door - ours did anyway

You are so right. It seems toilet paper and paper towels are the first things to go when an emergency is announced on the evening news. Oh, and bottled water too. Living in South Florida where we are always prepared for hurricanes, we know to have a good supply of everything in the house. Now that a second wave of the pandemic has hit us, the shelves are quickly emptying again. It is a mystery to me. Lydi**

Theres something about toilet rolls that makes them hard to find in a pandemic lol. Its just psychological dear WildRose.
Our minds work in a funny way and the worst thing people imagined was toilet disasters.

I was just puzzled that was all
We used to live out on the moors and got cut off every year . Went on a caravanning tour & arranged a meal for every day . some went shopping for food

Its how they don't plan or think thing through

It's panic time and panic unwanted buying.... I must say hoarding. But why toilet paper roll... That's something peculiar human behaviour. It was a nice read:)

As you must have guessed that was why I posted this

We used to live well out of town and often got cut off in winter so kept stocks of food in (still do)

Why toilet paper? Why not frozen food? Water? ANYTHING ELSE. Tissues? Oh, well. People were hoarding so much, it was insane and harder for other people. The virus is deadly, get cleaner instead! A very, true, and great poem! Hopefully, you're doing well and have what you need in this crazy time.

I gave them a list . They returned with all the stuff "We have this on offer I got good stocks in" the shopkeeper said
We did want that > just the items on the list that we are short of

I was o tempted to ignor the docs instructions and go myself
BUT I might catch something and not get to the end.

Yes doing OK now but still on the tablets . on a reducing dose

We are up early and out to the Super Market when it is quite > So we don't meet any one else

At home I am doing some drawing (Watercolour) from our travels - writing - on a good day down to one of the harbours for a short walk & watch the waves

The virus is expanding again in some places but not here
Went in the super market and the toilet roll shelves were empty again
All the FOD shelver were well stocked > So are our food cupboards now
