This is very true, Wild Rose. That little boy in the picture has a look like he’s king of the world. I can well-remember such feelings as a child. The satisfying squish of mud under my feet and that reaction of water when I hopped in puddles. A very cute poem and wonderful return to childhood. Enjoyed this morning.

Found the slide in a box while searching for something else
Our dog would avoid puddles and pull away until we walked in them _ He would run in the edge of the sea and rivers

My grandchildren love those muddy puddle too. Last year, was a large pile of dirt. Was a treat for the grandchildren. Mama wasn't so happy. Beautiful artwork and good words shared my friend.

Actually it is a 1960's 35mm colour slide - Scanned and edited
The track is now smooth and tarmacked - thanks to a motorway which cuts through the background - It cut the hall off from the village

I understand - The old slides are in all sorts of conditions . The old BW are best
I put some on a vintage BW site of Flickr - they were refused all their were in a shade of sepia I was accused of getting some one in old clothes to pose for me > So i told them what I thought and added a good 1907 pic

There's something irresistible about a puddle. The deeper, the better. Children as well as some adults find they can't walk past without wading in. Reminds me of my brother. Water over the brim of his wellies. Smile on his face. He had found his heaven.

It's strange, but when I used to jump up and down in a puddle, I would often as not, get a slap round the head. And my wellies leaked!
