June - In the Garden

June - In the Garden

A Poem by Wild Rose

June

When the sun shines bright; but not too much
The breeze is gentle and not too hot; nor too cold

Sitting by the garden pond

Listening to the gentle splash of water

From the fountain falling on the surface

Music from the Aeolian wind chimes gently drifts by

Bees busy themselves collecting pollen from the flowers

On the foxgloves methodically visiting every individual cup

Butterflys drifting by

To gently alight upon a rose bud

The birds sing sweet love songs to their mates

The chickens bwok makes no sense at all

But we are so engrossed in our world

Even the aroma of brewed coffee

Or warm baked cookies

Doesn’t bring our thoughts back

The cool soda pop keeps its sparkle
The crisps dont go soft

My dearest has abandoned her needle work

To slumber sweet dreams in her chair

The gentle breeze just stiring her hair

Such is life

For man and wife

On a warm summer day

With no care

Cept to sit and take in natures bounty

nice collaboration you two...sounds as one voice...
i imagine the chickens might make sense to each other, but i even wonder on that...
one edit..."pollen" with two "L's"

but you really create a serene scene...with the colorful, calming imagery.

'June-In the Garden'
Wild Rose,
Yes, what a wonderful time to absorb early
summer grace in the beginning of Autumn.
Remind me of gentle grace:
'The cool soda pop keeps its sparkle
'The crisps don't go soft
My dearest has abandoned her needle work
To slumber sweet dreams in her chair
The gentle breeze just stirring her hair'
This poem is an open invitation to simply be,
to simply accept summer's beauty.
Blessings,
Kathy

A very positive view of married life. There is a lot of detail in the descriptions and the poem conveys what a happy married life ought to be. Overall, I liked it.

This is some of the best, most comfortable, relatable summertime imagery I've ever read in words! I am living this very scene most of the time, this June. It's been unseasonably mild here, just a few days where the heat beat down. I love "the chickens bwok makes no sense" and abandoned needlework to a lazy-day nap! Exactly how it goes! With vivid carefree details! (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

Lucky are those who can sit and knit no cares or worries (for the moment)
I like the tempo of the piece and the ease of accessibility to the reader!

Collabs in the sunshine. Does it get any better than that.
Though, people were complaining today it was too hot. What can you do with them.
All out for summer now. Is that being too optimistic.
