All a matter of scale

We recycle every thing possible Plastic/tins and glass go into the green bin

Paper into another green bin

Vegetation goes into the compost bin for garden use

Bread crumbs: fat off the meat, cheese scraps all gobbled up with glee by the birds

"What do you want those for? She asks

"They are too small"

"For you my dear they are just tiny crumbs"

"The Sparrows and Robbins find them a beakfull"

"They only have little mouths"

oh my, we humans have really big mouths...and we waste so much...we need to leave more crumbs for the poor, the indigent who are starving...give them some beakfulls...
makes me wonder if there is reincarnation and we are just recycled as well.

What a lovely idea. Waste is something I grew up not thinking a whole lot about but I find myself thinking about deeply now. I see your poem kind of in that light. The two sides of the coin.

I like the idea that nothing is too small to pass on. It’s inspiring.

I look forward to spending more time on your page in a day or two. Very busy today, but I’d like to spend time with some of your prose.

Nice to meet you.

My dad, being concerned with the environment before most were aware of the direction we are going, had us recycling in the 1970's. Currently, I have a good balance between pet bunnies (who eat extra greens) and pet dogs (who eat meat scraps) while providing fertilizer for the garden. I love how you present a common theme, but with an unexpected twist - this time, the back-and-forth between characters feels fun & brightens up your approach with humanity & laughter (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

Everything is relative, is it not? What we sweep up and throw away is a meal for a bird. Very clever wording here. Lydi**

Indeed our birds eat everything and anything. The bigger scraps and fruit get carried away by carrion in seconds. Nicely laid out poem in a flowing conversational free verse with a story to it .

Well said. We waste so much in general. But to give more to our fellow little creatures that live outdoors would not cost much at all. Nicely said.
