Guiding LightA Poem by Wild Rosehot taken Maryport Lighthouse (Harbour entrance) at sunsetDown by the lighthouse at the harbour entrance The fisher men gather at high tide Baiting their lines Casting them to the rising sea
To catch a meal A tasty morsel Tomorrows dinner Food for the family
Fishing boats are gone To places afar Places they seek Where the fish are plenty
Cast their nets to the sea Now the wait Haul them back Inspect the catch
Empty the nets Cast them back So it goes Until time for home
Guiding light Still shining bright Shows the way To home and family
Catch is emptied Sorted sold Gone to shops Food for the people
