Autumn: Country Roads

Autumn: Country Roads

A Poem by Wild Rose

                                                   Autumn Country Road

Autumn time

The plants have run their time

Leaves change colours

Gone the greens

Replaced by Yellow, Orange and Red

The ground is covered with fallen leaves

Thick enough to make a bed

For hibernating creatures

Leaves are blown

To settle in corners

Create a slippery surface

To catch the unwary driver

Autumn time

Leaves have changed their colour

Yellow, Orange and Red

Pleasing to the eye it can be said

Stunning photo to go with your friendly lyrical description of some of my favorite feelings of autumn. Love the way your writing feels lighthearted & lyrical more than usual . . . getting away from the serious explanatory writing you often do. Just my opinion, but I try to avoid using primary colors becuz so many poets do & then these colors lose their meaning. There are so many awesome descriptive words that can be used to describe all the different shades & hues possible. Why reach for yellow, orange & red? I'd rather see coral & scarlet & buttery tones of lemon. All in all, a perfect way to describe this time of year with feeling (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

They brighten up quiet corners for a while
Last stanza says it all - very pleasing to read, soak in the scene and appreciate nature's 'free' displays! A seasonally poetic delightful write and lovely share … :-)

Thank you _ just returned from town the roadside is deep with leaves where they have come to rest
Very nice word picture accompanied by the real thing. Where I live such scenes took their time arriving this year.
