Leaving Faroes

Leaving Faroes

A Story by Wild Rose
"

Boat journey

"

Sailing through the Faroes

Travelling through the night

A new place each day

Today was in Torshavn

Capital of the Faroes

WE spent one day in the harbour while goods were exchanged

As we were having dinner

The boat set out on the overnight trip to Iceland

Passing between the islands

The boat wove its way

Leaving a trail of foam

Like a white road

Following the deep channel

Passing isolated communities

Nestling in between the mountains

Clinging to the coast

We watched from our dinner table

The white wake opening out behind

In between the Faroe Islands

Leaving us in expectation of what wonders awaited

On our return journey

The thing that really stands out for me in your poem is that you describe aspects of this trip that most people wouldn't even notice. You are an astute observer of your surroundings, transforming into words with an almost-journalistic feel, as far as documenting the details. As your poem goes onward toward the end, it seems to pick up steam as far as imagery goes. The ending then matches your brilliantly chosen art, both at a high level of intensity (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

Delightful narrative, Wild Rose. Imagery just detailed enough to energize our expectations, thinking just how lovely and peaceful that world must be. A joy to read, thanks

You are particularly good at these descriptive writes about your travels. I enjoyed very much your lines where you are looking out at the foaming sea and the wash the boat is leaving in its wake. Your posted image is stunning Wild Rose. Well done.

Very good at weaving beautiful descriptions in your writing. I love taking trips and taking note of your surroundings, the "white road" being left behind is a great metaphorical description. Seems like a lot of fun, sailing through and being surrounded by new and esciting sites.
