From the Kitchen window

From the Kitchen window

A Poem by Wild Rose

She stands by the window

To do her chores

Peeling spuds

Washing the pots

She lifts her head

To take a breath

Ease her back

Straighten her neck

She sees her garden

Fit for a queen

As near as I can make it

Its fit to be seen

She will get no card for her birthday

A new blouse

Or may be a dress

A flower for her collection

As a reminder of my love for her

Such lovely and sincere words. I can only think that when you love someone so much, all you have to do is be there sharing the view - knowing you're a big part of what matters in her life. A beautiful garden- whatever size, is having a small part of Heaven on earth!

There's something beyond the kitchen window that she sees. I know this feeling. I've done many a dish myself and when I straighten my back and stretch my neck I'm faced with looking at what's in front of me and feel comforted. When I look outside my window, I am transported to an oasis of calm. There's something very comforting in staring outside the kitchen window while there's a breeze, especially. The garden is a view as lovely as the sunrise in that moment. The view, itself, takes me someplace where my feet wouldn't otherwise lead me. As far as birthdays, it's the thought that counts and not necessarily items. As long as she knows she appreciated then it makes the days together worth it (though surprises are just as sweet and welcomed :) lol ). Great read.

Aww how sweet :)
This is the most beautiful & heartfelt poem that I've read from you so far. I love the way you show instead of tell. The way the scene unfolds so gradually, it's like watching a film. You've really pumped up the imagery in this piece & your heartfelt affection is like sweetness dripping from your words! (((HUGS))) Fondly Margie

I don't get into obligatory gifts in either direction!
After the chores, she has a heavenly place to sit and read, write or even quietly stare at the beauty she had created with her hands. Your poem is as lovely as the garden.

Lovely sentiments in this forthcoming birthday poem. Beautiful view from the kitchen window, definitely fit for a Queen. Always good to feel appreciated, by remembering her birthday, you will do that.
