Lanthwaite Woods

Lanthwaite Woods

A Poem by Wild Rose
"

Woodland walk to lake shore

"

In Loweswater valley

A path leads through

Lanthwaite Woods

To shore of Crummock Water

And the weir

Where the River Cocker

So born

Here stands a seat

With view up the lake

Where you catch the

Rising suns rays

Shining over the fells

And Great Gable

Down Buttermere

Over the footbridge

To the extraction plant

Water for West Cumbria homes

The path leads further

Past Melbreck

To Mossdale

And beyond

Your poem is a lovely read. The second stanza is my favourite because I can imagine the rising sun over the fells in all its glory. The image you have posted is wonderful. I would like to take that walk as well. You are fortunate that you live in such a beautiful part of our country. Thank you Wild Rose.

Magnificent image to accompany a vivid and beautiful poem. Eloquent language with great form, flow, description and cadence. I have never been to these places, but your poem brings them alive to me. Thank you so much for taking us on this lovely walk with you.

This brings back such happy teen-age memories when I used to go with friends, walking, exploring, hostelling in Cumbria! The dappled light through the abundundant trees, Crimmock Eater by mid-day and a picnic, and, wondering if we could get up Great Gable. (No, a few years later!) You've embroidered this writing with such beautiful colours, your writing scattered so lightly on it way.. makes me wax lyrical!
