'Containter Ship'
Wild Rose,
We still do bussiness in this world just as people always have. Long ago in many different forms but more personal and even sealed with a handshake and a person's word being eneough to seal the deal. Now ....
"Merchants sit in their office
On their PC screen
They sell and order goods
Goods they have never seen"
Sight unseen. That is interesting. You have made a good point. Part of our modern day. We order on line and recieve goods shipped on ships. Great poem which leads to further thought as the continuation of shipment on trains and semi-trucks.
Blessings,
Kathy

We ran a florists business; found contacts at trade shows; then began ordering by phone - I became a telephone friend with several people (flower & basket importers) We made a deal on the phone (only one ever let me down - never traded with him again)

Your experiences are really interesting! First hand experiences. I see that your floral business depended on honest dealings with shipments and deliveries. That is really amazing to read the wonderful details in your response. Thank you so much for making the effort to fill me in. At one time I worked in a nursery business and customers are really important as well as shipments and deliveries.
Blessings to you.

I feel we take much for granted, including the processes that occur unbeknownst to our thoughts about the journeys our goods make to be at our convenience, & the many people working to get said goods to us. Very good observations you've made here.

We had booked a trip to Noord Kap (North Cape) and Svalbard > The firm went bust on Christmas Eve - just before I was due to pay the full amount
First post in the New Year a post from the Camping Club for the Iceland guided tour at the same time
an amazing sight for sure ... thousands of them on the docks too .. way to easy to smuggle stuff ... a new world evolves from container to drone to home ... its sci fi for sure

I assume this poem is by Pamela Bush . . . it would be nice if, in an author's note, if you could let us know your relationship with the poet so we could understand why you're sharing her poetry with us. I thought this was going to be your creation, since there are similarities to your exacting style & love of technical details. I'm going to guess this is a significant other for you & you've possibly rubbed off on her? *wink! wink!* Nice way to write a poem about an unusual topic, very relatable, & good rhyming (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

Love the flow and classic poetry style. Rhyming patterns at their most clear. Your images are clear and vivid. Nice one :)

what an amazing idea that you were inspired by a pic of a container ship and could write an iinteresting poem about it.
this was very clever, thanks for entry into my current competition, good luck

You brought me some lovely imagery of those vast container ships on their ocean travels, Wild Rose. It was a reminder of how for hundreds of years this is the way we have traded with other nations. The boats may have changed, we may have computers now, but the principle remains the same. Transporting goods throughout the world by boat.

but i see a metaphor....we sit at our screen, corresponding with many we have never seen...
and our poems are containers with our feelings inside.

But yes I see what you mean
My/our pics I look at as our memories . we met a couple she had Alzheimer's & yesterday never happened - they took pics had videos taken of every thing they did > her memory
