The Dreadful ScreamsA Chapter by .I fell on my knees, burying my head into the ground, trying to shake the sounds off me. It was like having a nightmare that you couldn’t escape, that you couldn’t get free of.~Alice’s P.O.V~
I followed Jimena out of the main building and into the dark night. I was cold, if I must say; the moon shone bright it made me want to howl like a wolf, red and yellow leaves fell on us as we walked under old trees. A black cat (which I could hardly see) passed every now and then, mewing in a screechy voice which sent chills down my spine. A droplet of water would fall on me, from the icicles on the roofs.
Out of nowhere Jimena jumped from a wired fence, it looked deadly for some reason.
“You stay here” she told and walked off, I stood there with my mouth wide open. What, she was just going to leave me stranded and how was I supposed to know when she came back, I didn’t even know how long the transformation took and I certainly wasn’t going to stand here waiting for something exceptionally good to happen.
“Hey!” I called out, but no one answered. I shrugged and sat down on the humid grass. I touched and felt the dew smudge onto me tiny fingertips, making them softer and wetter. I heard another “miau” and looked at the black cat. I blinked at me showing its bright yellow eyes which looked like two small suns. It touched the fence with its paw and licked it shortly after. It gently lifted the end of the fence (which was already widely open) and went through. I wondered if I could change into that pesky, adorable cat and go through. I’ve always wanted to be a cat or dog, just for one day, to see how it feels.
The cat suddenly jumped out, like when you make popcorn, it pops and jumps into mid air, exactly that. It was funny scene but once you saw the cat’s eyes change from a radiant yellow to bloody red, it just scared you to death. I got up to see what the fuss was all about and gasped when I saw, what looked like a tower of fireflies, making a deafening buzzing sound. I put my hands over my ears and closed my eyes, but that didn’t prevent me from hearing the highest, high pitched scream ever. I opened my mouth but the word STOP didn’t come out of my mouth. I fell on my knees, burying my head into the ground, trying to shake the sounds off me. It was like having a nightmare that you couldn’t escape, that you couldn’t get free of. I rolled on my back and shivered from the intensity, it was deafening.
“Alice!” Jimena shouted, I opened my eyes but kept my hands on my ears. Jimena was up on the roof top, with shimmering white wings which slowly moved under the light breeze, a light surrounded her and in her arms she held a girl. I looked at her in horror as she came down. She gently put the girl on the floor.
“What happened? Who screamed?” I didn’t even realize I had so many questions in head. Jimena smiled lightly and put a hand on the girl’s heart. I saw her draw in a breath shortly after.
“I’ve transformed, as you’ve seen and the one who screamed was her” she pointed at the terrified girl. Her eyes were a foggy blue as if she were…blind.
“Oh my god! I can’t…can’t see!” she screamed, I put my hands over my ears again and gave her a deathly glare, which was useless since she was blind.
“Oh no! The principal’s going to kill me” Jimena said, putting her hands on her head and sobbing like mad.
“Relax she probably doesn’t know about it yet” I comforted her, she shook her head and a tear escaped her eye.
“I doubt it” she pointed in the direction of the gates and saw the principal come running towards us.
“What is the meaning of this?” she looked at the three of us. Somehow the high pitched scream kept repeating itself in my brain. I rolled into a ball and screamed. The principal stared at me as if I were suffering from a deadly disease.
“Nurse!” she shouted, luckily she was just crossing the gates when she got called. She came running to us.
“Yes, miss?” she asked, the principal pointed to me and they took me to the infirmary.

“Why the hell are they taking so long, it’s just one transformation” Anna said whilst pacing the room up and down. We managed to decently talk for 5 minutes, which let me tell you was a miracle, and now she was shouting all over again.
My head starting getting a big headache, but I shook it off, what mattered the most right now was that Alice and Jimena got here okay.
Anna had turned out to be quiet an interesting and fun person. She was great at soccer and tennis, her father worked for the FBI, she hated drinking blood even though she was related to some abusive blood drinkers in her family tree, she was 400 years old, assured me that Dracula was alive and kept captive (that I somehow found cool) and hated modern music.
My head started throbbing again, but now I just couldn’t handle it. I felt my veins get heavy and my pulse started beating faster, the worst part? A scream inside my head which never seemed to stop. Anna looked at me as if I were a lunatic.
“I’m calling the nurse!” she said whilst running out the door. I started kicking things and breaking windows. I hardly had any idea what I was doing most of the time.
“Where is she?” the nurse asked, her eyes widened when she saw the state of the room. I kept hitting my head on the wall; I swear I felt blood run down my cheek.
“Not her too” she muttered and took me by the arm, Anna frowned.
“You mean Alice is also in this state?” she asked, the nurse dreadfully nodded and took me to the infirmary. Luckily I’d get over this and Alice would too. © 2013 .Author's Note
