You're Not Alone Chapter 15

When I woke up, Jake was sitting next to me, crying.

“Why are you crying?” I said.

“Because I thought you were going to die.” He said.

“Why would that matter?” I asked.

“Because I love you.” He mumbled.

Suddenly, his head shot up. I guess he didn’t want to say that.

“Umm… that…” He started saying.

I started laughing.

“Hey! Don’t laugh!” He said, blushing.

“I love you too.” I said, still laughing.

“What? But I thought you loved�"“ He started saying.

“No. I love you, not Cass. He already knew that. I wonder what everyone would think if they saw the big school bully crying and saying I love you to some person.” I said, still laughing.

“I don’t care what they think. I care what you think. And I thought you loved Cass.” He said.

“Like I said, I love you. Not Cass.” I said.

He got up, hugged me, and kissed my forehead.

“Guys?” I heard from the door. It was Cass. “What is cancer?”

I froze.

“Why do you want to know?” Jake asked.

“The doctor just told me I have it.” Cass said.

I sat there, staring at the doctor who just walked in the door.

“Can I talk to Jake and Tommy please, CassandraJoy?” He said.

“Sure.” Cass said, as he walked out.

“Doctor. What the f**k is wrong with you?!” I screamed.

“Well I did say the next time you came.” He said.

“You knew?” Jake said, looking at me.

“I just told him earlier, so don’t get mad at him. Anyways, Cass doesn’t have long to live.” He said.

“How long?” I asked.

“He probably won’t make it to tomorrow afternoon.” The doctor said.

“WHAT?!” We screamed.

“He’s had it for a while, but he just never knew. If he knew earlier, then we possibly could have done something.” He said.

“And I was just starting to like him.” I said.

Jake stared at me with the death glare.

“Don’t worry, babe. I won’t like anyone more than you.” I said, kissing his arm.

He blushed when I said “babe”, which made the doctor and I laugh.

“Have Cass stay over at your house.” The doctor said.

“Alright. Should we bring him in as soon as we wake up?” I asked.

“Yes.” The doctor said. “Make sure to bring him, no matter what.”
