LAMENT OF A TREE

LAMENT OF A TREE

A Poem by Crystal David John
"

Looking at the devastation of forests and trees caused by the selfishness and greed of humans - I wrote this little poem from the point of view of the tree

"

LAMENT OF A TREE

All weak, alone and depressed I stand,
No one will ever understand
What through life, I have had to face,
As the world ate up all the space,
It always had for me!
And now you can all see
How I am lifeless, and shut down
Due to the greedy seeds sown,
Of development and growth,
Ravishing the planet earth
Polluting the air
Oh what despair!
Just to live in glamor and style
Reducing me to a garbage pile!

I have such an affinity with trees, I almost look on them as human, except they do not have the awful destructive nature of our own species. The one outside my bedroom window is my sentinel. On guard. Your poem touches me. I feel the despair of your tree.
