Familiar Stranger

Familiar Stranger

A Poem by Crystal

Silence.
Not even a look shared between us.
Nothing to talk about.
A couple of months ago
that silence would have been broken,
replaced with chatter and laughter.
Now,
that silence is shatterproof.

Eyes gazing around the place
never focusing on me,
choosing not to see me.

I knew your likes,
your dislikes,
your dreams
and your fears.
But now,
I feel I do not know you at all.
You are nothing
but a stranger.

We part our ways,
you go your way
and I go mine.
And like parallel lines
we'll never cross again.

This final stanza was just that: final. I liked the parallel lines simile, I thought that was a really unique touch. So much can happen throughout a relationship and someone you once knew can turn into someone you never want to know again. Well done.

There is a lot of determination. I think I grasp the concept of it. As you have said, it's about a shatterproof silence before parting. It bears tons of solace within it, pleasure on the fine lines of pain- bittersweet moments, if you will.

I enjoyed it. 90/100 Cheers!
