Grow old with me

Grow old with me

A Poem by Crystal Overmeyer-Birmingham

Grow old  with me
and one day
while we rock on our porch
we will expound
about the glory days of love.
You will reminisce on
my dark hair and freckles
I will weave a tale
about your wilder side
and at our knees
our grandchildren will anchor themselves
pleading for one more for the road
you, only too eager to fulfill, will take a sip of mid day coffee
glasses settling at the brim of your nose
eyes aglow
crinkled hands wringing out the last bit of bardic magic
you will smile and say
"well, it all started with a girl"

A very beautiful and restful piece. Well done. And a beautiful plan.

About
I am a poet by nature. Words just speak to me and color my world. I away think of poetry as painting with phases, just as vibrant and life giving as they are messy and complex. more..
