lazy love

lazy love

A Poem by Crystal Overmeyer-Birmingham

Sun sprinkles
drenching our skin
dripping on our souls
quenching our thirst
with golden hues and splashes of greens
we hide from the tempest
inside a fort designed by
our lips and tangled limbs
grabbing at my hip
drawing me close
all the while whispering
with a wolfish smile
I love this storm

Crystal, I think I've told you this before, but whenever I see a piece of your work in my request box I always review it first (even though I'm way behind...I've got 82 RRs to do). One way I've determined to know if the write (and the poet) is going to be top shelf is when it appears that it was written effortlessly, without editing or changing anything. First draft? Send it. I may be wrong about this, but your writing style is so basic yet elegant all at once. It makes me read it like 3 times even though I "got it" after first read. This is truly outstanding writing, young lady. Keep sending me RRs, yes? take care...dan

About
I am a poet by nature. Words just speak to me and color my world. I away think of poetry as painting with phases, just as vibrant and life giving as they are messy and complex. more..
