Consumed

This is poem I had written 10 years ago. My mom was so proud of it. RIP Cindy Lou

Love is red like the blood
That has dried in my veins
Vitality has vanished
Only dust now remains
Only a glance from a distance
A beautiful sight to admire
A fallen angel once pure
Then consumed by desire
I have to let go
To forgive this fate
I was looked upon with envy
And I looked upon with hate
For what dwells within my soul
Was sensed from the start
A deception so brutal
To have broken my own heart
Now broken and empty
Consumed by my spite
With every fear brought to life
And every hope left to die

Beautiful! Well, the poem is, not its topic, obviously :) It is really nice to find a poem which rhymes so splendidly among all these poems which don't rhyme at all (I must admit I do not understand that kind of poetry). Thank you for sharing it with us!

This poem is well made and it rhymes as expected, but like many poems it leaves me utterly unsure what it even means.

So I can't rate it, because I have no idea what any of it means at all. How do you know if a poem is good if you can't understand it at all?

It was about my first love. My first broken heart. My first time being jealous and at the same time having someone else jealous of me. Basically two young foolish girls wanting the same guy. In the end all sides had lost the pointless battle.
