The Lies We Tell The Bedroom Wall

The Lies We Tell The Bedroom Wall

A Poem by Eliee
"

Abstract, Freeverse, Two Way Thoughts

"

Really, it only takes a word.

Placed in the wrong tone

Or in the wrong moment

For you to question all our

truths. One wrong hesitation...

From yours truly,

Your look told me sorrow

is mine to pay.

You look at me and say;

“Why do I bother with any of this.”

And I come up with reasons

I know you love,

If you are in the right mind.

You forget I question too

And that is the question

I must ask the dirty silences.

“Where are you today?

Where will you be in a minute?

Will you love me still?

Or will I set your thoughts on fire?”

And you look at your scars-

or maybe they are fresh.

You tell me that you are healing well

I tell you, “yes, because you are strong”

or any number of truths-

I need you to know.

But you can look at them and say instead;

“they are in the way. They make me

so ugly”

So

you

make

another

.

And

another

.

Cryfest

Just

One

More

,

I

Swear-

I like to cry at night, with my partner. I'm wracked with crippling depression, but I get through with sarcasm and a deep set bitterness. I write, I read, as does everyone on this site (I would hope)... more..
