Stop And Be Free

Stop And Be Free

A Poem by Luke Masters

How many people never hear the Kookaburras sing

When it pierces the morning, a beautiful thing?

How many never look up and see the birds fly

So high and so free, up there in the sky?

How many never watch the shadows on the mountains,

The sun on the sand, the water in fountains?

How many never stop to breathe in the air

And to look out and see that there is something more there?

And how many work like money is living,

When all of the time there's no sharing, no giving?

How many take time to smell all the flowers

To see Nature work with all of her powers?

All it takes is to listen, to look up and see,

All it takes is a second to stop and be free.

Author's Note

Luke Masters
I'm conflicted about this one. The rhymes are simple, but still have a nice ring to them. There's something I like about it... Read it quick, don't pause too long on the lines. It's supposed to be a quick and simple observation. Oh - and a Kookaburra is an Australian bird, for my American friends :)
