Guts (Original Poem)

Guts (Original Poem)

A Poem by Aerial Perez

There's no glory without pain or beauty without guts

Either way someone's spilling their heart out, hurt out

And I'm tripping on the mess

Shouldn't I look down more often?

Eyes to feet. Know your place.

No, I know, there's nowhere left to look and no one left to leave

But I'm tired of the doubts I carry around with me

No shoulders to cry on or burden with my pain

No glory, no beauty

Forever the same.

20 was the worst for me

The notice of failure and disease

Of sickening thoughts

And countless worries

Knives to skin, sweaty hands, eyes blurry

(Make your mark, make your mark!)

But not on the world

I'm not looking for trophies

Just a place for a girl

She thought she was stronger

Knew she loved lies

She swore to herself

She'd try not to try

Still...

Liars lie -

Underneath all the smiles; the things they don't know

Underneath mocking beauty; That, mirrors don't know

They don't show real reflections

Until shattered and spread

Broken pieces all gory

There's your guts

Glory's dead.
