to become...

to become...

A Poem by christopher fox

The memories I have
the memories I hold
the constant rendition
that never seems to
grow old.
it's the dance in
the mirror
that static condition
the embryonic consultation
that births
internal transmission.
without contradiction
for these acts have
occured
they are DVR'd
in a way
that I can't run
from these words
I face them myself
in a winning sort
of way
I also lose
just depends on the
act that gets played.
the lone man show
the way I know
the only sort of
jokes that honestly
get told.
just to ease a
smile
as the artist
knows the way
the more controlling
side
tries to stay
fighting these memories
splitting myself
reaching for plays
without the maps
to help.
that I could never
return
I have to repeat
make new memories
erase the drive
to become free.
