Not Everything

Last poem I will post from my anthology about change

Realization hits.

As you take a step into the cold world

Not everything is happy;

Not everything is good.

There are many gruesome truths

That are hidden,

Like a puzzle that will remain incomplete.

A silent cry

Which stays unheard.

A fallen tear

Which leaves no trace.

A sting of pain

Like a winter breeze upon your skin.

A hurt feeling

As you realize nothing is the same.

Not everything is easy;

Not everything is free.

Everyone changes

In an instant,

Like a lifetime flashing by in a blink of an eye.

A sweet memory

That lasts forever

Becomes a goodbye

That puts an end to everything you once knew.

I admire the fact that you do not rush into rhymes, which I am guilty of myself. Forcing rhymes can sometimes steal the magic of words. You portrayed ''change'' eloquently. I appreciated this. Well penned.

almost a sad look at life..a realization that rainbows and unicorns will turn to monsters in time as age colors your vision with the things hidden to a child.
