A Pattern for Silence

A Pattern for Silence

A Poem by Cristina Moldoveanu

I shall become a shadow tailor

cutting straight with my scissors

until everyone will wear a proper dress

either rich or poor in spirit

they will see a starless sky in the mirror

birds of fire will burn out

like wedding candles

all of them will go to the market

carrying their sacks with words

the deal will be fair

silence will weigh heavier

between truthful words

love will be priceless

death a kind of love

with perfectly twinned nights

I won’t trim trees’ shadows

letting them grow or lessen

alike the moon
