Home AloneA Poem by Anabel SolanoNerd poetryMy parents leave for weekends away I stay behind With Netflix I watch Dr. Who and Torchwood Like a w***e on crack I dance in the hula skirt I bought at Spencer’s When my parents are away I let my inner freak out I recite Harry Potter spells, dance the Carlton, And play Yu Gi Oh online I listen to Slim Thug’s Like a Boss And to the soundtrack from Aladdin For days at a time I will build up my magic deck And watch all three LOTR movies With deleted scenes and special features I dance to the Macarena And eat mac and cheese For breakfast And ravioli from the can For dinner For hours I will decorate my room with bread and
butter flies Made of construction paper and wire hangers One wall dedicated to all the Coolest superheroes Including the Incredible Hulk I will read my manga while listening To Avril Lavine just to be nostalgic When people ask me complicated questions, I answer 42. And if my boyfriend were to come over We would make sweet sweet…. POKEMON BATTLES! With a deck that I have had since the third grade And when Monday comes I put away my decks, and skirts, And dirty dishes And wait in anticipation of the next © 2017 Anabel SolanoAuthor's Note
