Keys and CagesA Poem by OctoberDawnFinding love is as easy as unlocking your own cage, but at what cost?
I've watched as lovers found their keys,
through bars in my own cage. I've seen the hope that lingers still, attained by younger age. Why do these hands hold only steel? they long for so much more. Why do these damning locks conceal the love that longs to soar. Come close my dear and tarry here, look in these eyes of mine. Do not conceal your precious key, let me behold its' shine. A little further in my love, my eyes are dim from age. It's too late for sorrow now my pet, welcome to my cage. Many years have passed since I afforded my own release. I've found a love I hold quite dear, though the guilt does never cease. Sometimes I think of that poor girl I did trick and ensnare. I wonder if she still is trapped, though I dare not wander there.
